I have developed a tiny habit which tunes me into a positive energy frequency each and every day. Every morning when my feet touch the floor and as I reach to open the blinds I say, “this is going to be a good day.” When I do this it is as if every cell in my body aligns with a good feeling place. This particular morning and every other morning that I had scheduled my hair appointment, I automatically know that it is in fact going to be a very good day!
A few years ago, upon accepting a new position, I no longer had access to flexible work arrangements which once again impacted my ability to continue being a client of yet another hairstylist who I adored and respected personally and professionally. I had wonderful experiences with hairstylists throughout my adult life (Mary and Dorothy from the Hair Factory in St. John’s) which meant my new hairstylist was going to have big shoes to fill. So my search began. I chatted with several close family members and friends in an effort to find someone who had the qualities I admired.
Carolyn Cobb of Personally Yours Hair Design (St. John’s) and I met through a mutual friend (one of Carolyn’s longstanding clients) who always had a classy hairdo! There is no doubt how or why we made a solid connection. We both describe the other as being of like-mindedness.
Upon awakening this morning, I quickly realized it is hair appointment day and my thoughts go something like this, “I get to spend time with Carolyn today. Yay!!” I felt instantly energized. It set the tone for my day. What is interesting and fun is that Carolyn has shared with me that she feels the same way. Carolyn has shared with me that on the days that she opens her appointment book and sees my name written on the page, she thinks, “Daphne is coming in today, this is going to be a good day!” Isn’t this absolutely awesome? People bringing joy into one another’s lives by just showing up and being their true selves with no hidden agendas, no masks to hide behind and simply celebrating one another’s uniqueness. What is there not to love about this?
Each one of us are a unique gift to this universe. Our challenge is to see one another through the lens of unconditional love from a place of inner peace and joy; to create safe places for our lights to shine brightly. Yes, this has been a very good day! I am truly grateful and thankful for the personal and professional relationship I have developed with Carolyn Cobb. Carolyn possesses an inner and outer beauty; her unique light shines brightly. She is a star! If you ever get the chance to meet this marvellous lady, you will find that she is living her passion, she loves the work she is doing and the people whom she serves, because of this, she is living a life she loves.
P.S. We give each other a Qigong (heart to heart) hug upon greeting one another and as we bid each other a farewell. I have been told by a Qigong Master that 8 hugs a day help us to balance our life energy. Give somebody you know a hug for health today.
